Program costs

The program is sold in an all-inclusive package, which comprises:

  • University tuition and fees, independently on the number of courses or credit hours the student takes. Course materials are included.
  • Logistic support for volunteer and internship programs. This includes matching the student with an internship or volunteer opportunity. All these are non-paid experiences.
  • Conferences with prominent local leaders in small working groups.
  • Housing at an exclusive neighborhood, and access to its amenities and housing services.
  • Three to four course-meals, prepared three times a day, six days a week (Monday - Saturday) by a professional cook.
  • Transportation: there will be shuttles to take care of students’ transportation needs during their participation in the program, including shuttle services to and from the University campus. Comfortable vans or sedan vehicles will be available for students every day a week on the following schedules:

Monday-Friday: From 7:30 am to 9:30pm

Saturday: 10:30 am to 3:30am (Sunday)

Sunday: Noon to 8:00 pm

Special Friday and Saturday nights extended schedule: until 3:30am

For other hours, Scholasticus works closely with safe phone-to-ride taxi companies, which will be put at the student’s disposal and expense.  

  • Travel: all educational excursion and a two-weeks trip through continental Ecuador. The trip includes accommodation in top hotels in the localities visited and transportation. Meals during the trip are not included.
  • Travel Insurance during the student’s stay in Ecuador, and is extensive to other countries around the world, if they were to extend their travel plans (any extensions are not included).
  • A personal cell phone line for every program participant.
  • Access to Scholasticus' academic and career advising services.

 Airfare to and from Guayaquil, at the beginning and end of the program, is not included.

Scholarships

Scholasticus will soon offer to its applicants a US$ 1,000 “Roots Scholarship” for students that can prove second or third generation Latin American ancestry. Applicants must show and proof an exemplary interest in the region. Such scholarships are merit-based, partial and a limited number is offered each year. Other funding sources

Many universities and agencies in the United States offer scholarships, student-aid and student-loans especially tailored for undergraduates that want to study abroad. Talk to your academic or study abroad advisor about the opportunities that may be available to you.
