To apply, you must do so through your university’s study abroad department.  Click on the "Apply Now" link to your left to download the application materials and follow the instructions. All applications will be screened by Scholasticus and Universidad Católica's selection committee. Grades, extracurricular activities and other personal qualifications will be taken into consideration. Telephone interviews, in English and Spanish, will be conducted.

Requisites 
The requisites to participate in Scholasticus Study Abroad Program in Guayaquil are:
  1. Minimum 2.8 G.P.A. (or equivalent) at your home institution.
  2. Students must have a passing grade on all courses taken in Spanish at their home institution (either Spanish as a Second Language courses or general topics courses dictated in Spanish). AP courses in Spanish Language or Spanish Literature can count towards this requirement. 
  3. To enroll in general courses dictated in English at Universidad Católica, or in any course under the “Spanish for Foreigners” Program, students must have passed at least one Spanish course at your home institution. AP courses in Spanish Language or Spanish Literature can count towards this requirement.
  4. To enroll in courses dictated fully in Spanish, students must have passed at least four Spanish courses at their home institution. AP courses in Spanish Language or Spanish Literature can count towards this requirement. 
  5. Be out of disciplinary probation at your home institution.
Universidad Católica might conduct Spanish placement tests upon arrival. Depending on tests results, some courses requirements might not fit the student’s language knowledge, and thus will not be able to enroll.

Students with dissabilities

Scholasticus welcomes applicants with disabilities. At the time, we are able to accommodate for participants with certain types of attention, learning, visual, hearing, medical, psychiatric, and language disabilities. Please consult us how we might work to aid you in your learning, professional and living experience in Ecuador, which will depend greatly on a deep understanding of your condition. Please note we might share your condition’s information with institutional partners and advisers, after your due consent.

 

We handle your information carefully. Due to our own privacy policies, and due to the varying nature and types of conditions, we ask that you explain thoroughly your dissabilty/ies in a separate sheet from the application and attach any supporting documentation. Scholasticus will conduct an assessment of your specific case, jointly with Universidad Católica, a Student Disabilities Advisor, Academic or Study Advisor at your home institution (if applicable). 

 
VISA
Student visas are required to attend Scholasticus Study Abroad Program (except option 7). After you have been granted admission, the process of obtaining a visa will be closely coordinated with you and the Ecuadorian Consultates abroad. We will mail you instructions and all required documents to process the visa application. Once you recieve it, we encourage you to fill and mail it to a Ecuadorian Consulate as soon as possible. The US$30 application fee and US$100 visa fee are not included in Scholasticus package.
