Scholasticus, Centro de Desarrollo Académico S.A. (Scholasticus), is a privately-held company legally constituted under the laws of the Republic of Ecuador and subject to the regulation of the Superintendence of Companies and other pertaining institutions. Scholasticus is dedicated to providing services for general academic coordination and administration, along with services for the education, exchange, lodging, logistic support, transportation and leisure of national and international students, as well as promoting the development of academic activities, conferences and courses of different type and kind in Ecuador and abroad.
Scholasticus is member of the Institute of International Education.
Mr. Xavier Hidalgo founded Scholasticus, Centro de Desarrollo Académico in 2008. Mr. Hidalgo has served as General Manager of Constructora Hidalgo for the last 15 years, heading all the company’s development projects. Previously he worked at Norlop Consulting Group in Guayaquil.
Mr. Hidalgo obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and later a Masters in Real Estate Development from Universidad Católica de Guayaquil.
Mr. Ernesto Hidalgo founded Scholasticus, Centro de Desarrollo Académico in 2008. Mr. Hidalgo serves as the resident Program Director. As such, he is in charge of setting up the academic components of Scholasticus Study Abroad Program, advising prospective and current students, and serving as a liaison between Scholasticus and institutional partners, locally and abroad. Mr. Hidalgo has broad experience in the financial industry. He headed the Projects Department at Sociedad Financiera Interamericana, a finance company, and was consultant to Seguros Colón, a surety company, both headquartered in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Previously, he was a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina’s Fellows Program´s semester-long seminar.
Mr. Hidalgo earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and participated in an Executive Education Program at Georgetown University in the winter of 2010.
Ms. Manrique joined Scholasticus in 2009 to lead the program’s operations. Since she joined the firm, Ms. Manrique has developed jointly with Mr. Ernesto Hidalgo the operations and nutrition manual for Scholasticus´program participants. Her previous experiences include the administration of a sushi restaurant and chef assistant at Guayaquil´s Country Club.
Ms. Manrique obtained a BBA in Tourism Administration and Hotel Management from JeffersonCollege in Guayaquil. She later obtained an engineering degree in Hotel and Touristic Businesses Administration from Universidad Católica de Guayaquil. She also obtained her Chef title in 2001 from the ChefsSchool in Guayaquil.
